Mumbai Coastal Road: 45,000 Mangroves Affected
Mumbai — Mumbai ke ambitious Coastal Road Project ko lekar ek baar phir se chinta vyakt ki ja rahi hai, jahan reports ke mutabik lagbhag 45,000 mangroves prabhavit hue hain.
Environmental groups aur activists ka kehna hai ki project ke construction aur land reclamation activities ke chalte mangrove cover ko nuksaan pahuncha hai. Mangroves ko coastal ecosystem ka ek mahatvapurn hissa mana jata hai, jo flooding control, biodiversity protection aur coastal stability mein bada role nibhate hain.
Civic authorities, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), ne kaha hai ki project ko environmental clearances ke tahat hi execute kiya ja raha hai. Officials ka kehna hai ki compensatory afforestation aur conservation measures bhi plan kiye gaye hain.
