Zero News Suggests “India Card” Initiative to Government for National Identity Reform

New Delhi — Media platform Zero News has proposed a new national reform concept titled the “India Card” initiative, suggesting the creation of a unified identity system aimed at streamlining public services and documentation across the country.

According to the proposal put forward by Zero News, the “India Card” would function as an integrated national identity framework, potentially consolidating multiple documents into a single, secure platform. The idea is being described as a step toward administrative efficiency, digital governance, and simplified access to government schemes.

Supporters of the concept argue that such an initiative could reduce bureaucratic delays, eliminate duplication of records, and enhance transparency in welfare delivery. The proposal also reportedly emphasizes data security, digital infrastructure, and phased implementation to avoid disruption.

However, policy experts note that any move toward identity reform would require extensive legislative review, public consultation, and strong safeguards to address privacy and data protection concerns.

As of now, there has been no official response from government authorities regarding the suggestion. The proposal has sparked discussion on governance modernization and the future of digital identity systems in India.

Further developments are awaited on whether the idea will receive formal consideration.

Bombay se Mumbai tak: Naam Badalne ki Puri Kahani!

Mumbai — Bharat ke sabse bade aur mashhoor shahron mein se ek, Mumbai, ka naam hamesha se aisa nahi tha. Ek waqt tha jab ise “Bombay” ke naam se jaana jata tha. Lekin phir aaya ek faisla jisne shehar ki pehchaan hi badal di.

“Bombay” naam Portuguese aur British colonial era se juda maana jata hai. Portuguese ne 16vi sadi mein is sthaan ko “Bom Bahia” yani “Good Bay” kaha, jo baad mein angrezi prabhav ke saath “Bombay” ban gaya. British raj ke dauran yeh naam adhikarik roop se istemal hota raha.

1990 ke dashak mein, Maharashtra ki regional political party Shiv Sena ne shehar ka naam badal kar “Mumbai” karne ki maang uthayi. Party ka kehna tha ki shehar ka asli aur paramparik naam “Mumbai” hai, jo sthaniya devi Mumbadevi ke naam par pada.

1995 mein Maharashtra sarkar ne adhikarik roop se “Bombay” ka naam badal kar “Mumbai” kar diya. Iske baad dheere-dheere railway stations, airport, government documents aur anya sansthano mein bhi “Mumbai” naam ka upyog shuru ho gaya.

Naam badalne ka faisla kuch logon ke liye asmita aur sanskritik pehchaan ka prateek tha, jabki kuch anya logon ne ise sirf political decision bataya. Aaj bhi kai log aadat ke taur par “Bombay” shabd ka istemal karte hain, lekin adhikarik taur par shehar ka naam “Mumbai” hi hai.

Yeh kahani sirf ek naam badalne ki nahi, balki itihaas, rajneeti aur sthaniya garv ki kahani bhi hai — jo aaj ke Mumbai ki pehchaan ka hissa ban chuki hai.

Jalore, Rajasthan — A controversial decision by a local community body in Jalore district has made headlines after 15 villages announced a ban on camera‑enabled smartphones for women and girls, effective January 26, 2026. The ruling, passed by the Sundhamaata Patti Panchayat of the Chaudhary community, applies to daughters‑in‑law and young women across the clustered villages.

Under the directive, women and girls will not be allowed to use or carry camera phones to public gatherings, social functions, weddings, or even when visiting neighbours’ homes. Instead, they are permitted to use basic keypad phones without cameras for communication.

The ban was justified by community leaders as a step to curb excessive mobile phone use and concerns about children’s eyesight and screen addiction. However, the decision has sparked widespread criticism and debate over women’s rights and digital freedom in modern India, with many critics arguing that it restricts women’s autonomy and access to technology.

The directive has also drawn the attention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), which has taken suo motu notice of the matter and issued a notice to the Jalore District Magistrate, highlighting concerns about potential discrimination and violation of fundamental rights.

Aravalli Bachao: 80,000+ People Unite.

New Delhi / NCR, India — In a massive display of environmental solidarity, over 80,000 people from across the country came together in recent days to support the Aravalli Bachao (Save Aravalli) movement, calling for stronger protection of the ancient Aravalli mountain range — one of India’s most ecologically important landscapes. The movement has gained fresh momentum amid legal debates over how the range should be defined and safeguarded under law. Aravalli Bachao Citizens Movement (ABCM) and allied groups, people from cities and rural areas — including environmental activists, students, professionals, and local communities — participated in rallies, discussions, and awareness events focused on stopping harmful mining, construction and ecological degradation in the Aravalli region.

Supporters have also urged the central government to pursue UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status for the entire Aravalli range, highlighting its role in regulating climate, preserving groundwater, protecting biodiversity and improving air quality for millions of people in Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and beyond.

The call for unity intensified after a Supreme Court ruling earlier this year touched on the legal definition of Aravalli hills, a move that environmentalists say could weaken protections for large portions of the ecosystem. Protesters stressed that comprehensive restoration and holistic legal safeguards — not fragmented definitions — are essential to save the range from further destruction. banners and placards that read “Save Aravallis,” “Protect Our Lungs,” and “No Defining Away Our Ecosystems”, reflecting broad public concern over the future of this ancient mountain system. Activists plan to continue their campaign with public campaigns, petitions and discussions with policymakers. Jaiswal .
