Kashmir’s First Vistadome Coach: Budgam–Katra Train Now Reaches Vaishno Devi!
Srinagar, February 11, 2026 — In a major boost to tourism and connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir, the Budgam–Katra train has been introduced with Kashmir’s first Vistadome coach, offering passengers a panoramic travel experience en route to the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi.
Railway officials said the Vistadome coach features large glass windows and a transparent roof, allowing travelers to enjoy scenic views of the Kashmir Valley, mountains, tunnels, and bridges along the route. The initiative aims to enhance pilgrimage travel while also promoting tourism in the region.
The train connects Budgam in the Kashmir Valley to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station, making it easier for devotees to access the revered shrine. Officials stated that the addition of the Vistadome coach is expected to attract both pilgrims and tourists seeking a unique travel experience.
Passengers on the inaugural run expressed excitement over the upgraded facilities and the breathtaking views offered by the coach. Railway authorities emphasized that safety and comfort remain top priorities, with modern amenities included in the Vistadome compartment.
