Bhubaneswar, Odisha — In a decisive action against corruption, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday seized ₹75 lakh in cash during a targeted raid connected to a public servant accused of possessing unexplained assets. The operation formed part of ongoing searches aimed at uncovering disproportionate assets and curbing illicit wealth accumulation among government officials.
The raid was conducted at multiple locations linked to an Additional Tahsildar posted in Barang, Cuttack district. Vigilance teams uncovered stacks of unaccounted cash amounting to ₹75 lakh, along with other valuable assets including gold and immovable properties during the searches.
Officials stated that the cash haul is part of a larger probe into the disproportionate assets case involving the government official. The vigilance wing also identified prime residential properties and high-value plots in Bhubaneswar and Khordha linked to the suspect, raising further questions about the source of wealth.
The action reflects intensified efforts by the Vigilance Department to crack down on corruption and recover ill-gotten gains. As part of these operations, the department has been undertaking simultaneous raids and confiscations against individuals suspected of possessing assets far exceeding their lawful income.
The seized cash and properties are now in the custody of vigilance authorities as investigations continue. Officials have reiterated that stringent legal action will follow if the findings confirm misuse of office or corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
