High Court: Abu Salem Ko 2 Din Ki Emergency Parole Mil Sakti Hai.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has indicated that notorious gangster Abu Salem could be granted a two-day emergency parole, according to legal sources. The decision comes after a petition filed by his family citing urgent personal reasons that necessitate his temporary release from prison.

Court proceedings revealed that the High Court is examining the merits of the request, taking into account Salem’s criminal record, current health, and the nature of the emergency. Authorities are expected to ensure that strict security measures are in place if the parole is approved.

Legal experts note that emergency parole is generally granted in exceptional circumstances, such as medical emergencies or urgent family matters, and is subject to stringent monitoring.

While Abu Salem has been serving multiple sentences for crimes including extortion and terrorism, his lawyers argued that the temporary release would not pose any risk to public safety, urging the court to consider his request sympathetically.

The High Court is expected to announce a final order shortly. Law enforcement agencies in Mumbai have been put on alert to implement the necessary protocols in case the parole is sanctioned.

Greater Noida: A startling crime caught on CCTV at a high-rise residential complex in Greater Noida has raised fresh concerns about safety within gated communities, especially for senior citizens.

The shocking footage shows a suspected thief attempting to snatch the gold chain of a 75-year-old woman inside a lift at the La Residencia society. The incident, which reportedly took place when the elderly resident was alone in the elevator, was recorded by the building’s security cameras and quickly circulated on social media, unsettling fellow residents.

In the video released by authorities and media outlets, the perpetrator — wearing a helmet and riding a two-wheeler — approaches the woman and tries to grab her chain. However, the victim resists fiercely, refusing to let go, forcing the attacker to flee the scene without the jewellery.

Residents say the incident has shaken confidence in the society’s security arrangements, prompting calls for better surveillance, stricter entry monitoring and round-the-clock patrolling within the complex.

In response to mounting criticism, local police took action, with reports indicating changes in duty postings for the Bisrakh SHO and ACP in the area to address the handling of the case and improve law enforcement presence.

So far, no arrests have been confirmed publicly, and police investigations are continuing as authorities review additional CCTV footage and eyewitness statements from residents. — Reported by Neha Jaiswal

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh — Tension briefly rose in Bareilly after members of the Bajrang Dal staged a protest outside a local church (Girja) over a Christmas programme being organised there. The demonstration took place as the church was preparing for special prayers and celebrations marking the Christmas season.

According to police sources, a group of Bajrang Dal workers gathered outside the church, raising slogans and objecting to the programme. They claimed the event was being used for religious conversions, a charge that church authorities strongly denied.

The police were quickly deployed to the area to prevent any disturbance and maintain law and order. Senior officials held talks with both sides, after which the situation was brought under control. The Christmas programme inside the church continued under tight security.

Church representatives said the event was purely religious and cultural, meant for prayers and community gathering, and had no connection with any forced or illegal activity. They appealed for peace and harmony during the festive season.

Police stated that no violence was reported, and the protest ended after some time. However, they warned that strict action would be taken against anyone trying to disturb communal harmony.

The incident once again highlighted the sensitivity around religious events and the need for dialogue and tolerance among communities.

Bhopal / Madhya Pradesh — In a dramatic incident that quickly went viral, an alleged extortion attempt in Madhya Pradesh backfired when a middleman (dalal) was seen hanging from a moving truck after his plan to collect money failed.

According to eyewitnesses, the dalal had tried to stop a truck and force the driver to pay extortion money. When the driver refused, the man allegedly climbed onto the truck in an attempt to intimidate him. However, instead of stopping, the driver kept the truck moving, leaving the dalal clinging to the vehicle in full public view.

The shocking scene was captured on mobile phones by people nearby and soon went viral on social media, sparking both outrage and disbelief. Many viewers questioned how such extortion attempts are still happening on highways and industrial routes.

Police said they have taken note of the viral video and started an investigation to identify the man involved. “Extortion and intimidation will not be tolerated. We are verifying the incident and action will be taken as per law,” a police official said.

No serious injuries were reported, but the incident has once again highlighted the problem of illegal collections and harassment of transporters in some areas.

Authorities have appealed to truck drivers and transporters to immediately report any such threats so that strict action can be taken.

Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh — In a major law-and-order crackdown, Ghaziabad Police have taken strict action after videos of swords being distributed publicly went viral, prompting widespread concern over public safety and potential communal tension in the city.

The incident came to light when social media clips showed members of a local group handing out swords and other sharp weapons to passersby in the Shalimar Garden area of Ghaziabad. In response, police registered an FIR against organisers of the event and initiated pursuit of those involved.

During the operation, 10 members of the Hindu Raksha Dal were arrested for their alleged roles in distributing the weapons and inciting unrest. Authorities also seized several swords and are tracking down additional suspects named in the case, including the group’s leader, who is currently on the run.

Officials said the action was necessary to prevent escalation of communal tensions and ensure peace in the city. Police reiterated that possession and distribution of lethal weapons without licence is illegal and undermines public safety.

Kuldeep Singh Sengar to Remain in Jail as Supreme Court Stops His Release in 2017 Unnao Case.”

New Delhi — In a significant development in the high-profile 2017 Unnao rape case, the Supreme Court of India has put a hold on the release of former BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar, ensuring that he will continue to stay in prison for the time being. The apex court’s intervention comes after the Delhi High Court earlier granted him conditional bail and suspended his life sentence, triggering nationwide debate and protests.

The three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, stayed the High Court’s December 23 order that had suspended Sengar’s life term in the case involving the rape of a minor in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The stay effectively halts his potential release from jail as the case continues to be heard at the highest judicial level.

The Unnao case has drawn intense public scrutiny since the crime first came to light in 2017, when the then-MLA was accused and later convicted for kidnapping and raping a minor girl. Sengar was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court in December 2019, a sentence that was upheld through subsequent legal processes.

Following the Delhi High Court’s temporary suspension of his sentence and grant of bail — which included strict conditions such as furnishing a personal bond and staying away from the victim’s vicinity — the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) appealed to the Supreme Court, arguing that the High Court order was legally flawed. The apex court agreed to intervene, citing serious questions of law and public interest.

Victim rights activists and political leaders have welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to stay the release, stressing the importance of ensuring justice and safety for survivors of sexual violence. Meanwhile, the case remains sub-judice as legal proceedings continue in the highest court.
