NCP’s PMC Wing Urges Party to Appoint Sunetra Pawar as National Chief
Pune, February 11, 2026 — The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)’s Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) wing has urged the party leadership to consider appointing Sunetra Pawar as the party’s national president, citing her growing influence and leadership capabilities.
In a formal resolution passed during a meeting held in Pune, local party leaders expressed confidence in Sunetra Pawar’s ability to strengthen the organization at the national level. They stated that her administrative approach and connect with grassroots workers make her a suitable candidate for a larger role within the party.
Several PMC wing members said the move would energize party cadres and bring fresh momentum ahead of upcoming political challenges. “The party needs dynamic leadership to expand its base, and Sunetra Pawar has demonstrated commitment and organizational strength,” a senior local functionary said.
However, senior NCP leaders at the state and national levels have not yet issued any official statement regarding the proposal. Political observers believe that such a recommendation reflects internal discussions and possible shifts within the party’s leadership structure.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in Maharashtra, where party leadership decisions are being closely watched.
Further updates are awaited on whether the central leadership will formally consider the proposal.
