New Delhi — On the occasion of the 140th Foundation Day of the Indian National Congress, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi delivered a passionate message, describing the Congress not merely as a political party but as “the voice of India’s soul” that stands unwaveringly with the weak, the deprived and the hardworking.
Addressing party workers and supporters on December 28, Gandhi emphasized the historical legacy of the Congress, which he said has shaped India’s democratic values and fought for social justice, equality and secularism since its inception. His remarks highlighted the party’s role in protecting the Constitution and championing the rights of all citizens amidst contemporary political challenges.
“Today, the Congress is not merely a political entity but the voice of India — defending truth, courage and the spirit of democracy,” Gandhi said in a social media post marking the anniversary.
The speech resonated across the party’s cadre, reinforcing its commitment to fight what Gandhi described as hatred, injustice and tyranny in public life, and to uphold values of fairness and inclusion.
